Thursday January 21
AI & Technology in Driving Rehabilitation: From Referral to Mobility Prescription
This course explores practical applications of AI throughout the driving rehabilitation workflow from initial client contact and evaluation preparation to clinical documentation, reporting, and professional communication. Participants will learn how AI can assist in developing clear, concise mobility prescriptions that communicate functional needs, equipment recommendations, and clinical justification to mobility equipment dealers and reimbursement sources.

Participants will explore how built-in vehicle technology may influence adaptive equipment needs and client training. The course will also evaluate the potential benefits, limitations and liability considerations of using AI in the driving rehab practice.

Beyond the Prescription: The Driver Rehab-Dealer Partnership
Successful adaptive driving equipment outcomes require more than an appropriate clinical recommendation and prescription from a driver rehabilitation specialist (DRS); they require effective communication among the driver, DRS, and dealership team. Designed for DRSs and allied health professionals, this interactive session explores how DRSs can engage QAP dealership teams throughout the adaptive equipment, vehicle selection, and training process.

Participants will distinguish the roles of dealership technicians, sales professionals, installers, and modifiers; identify when and how to engage each team member; and explore communication and prescription challenges involving newer vehicle technologies and low-tech adaptive equipment. Through case examples, interactive exercises, and a panel of experts, participants will develop strategies to improve communication, clarify responsibilities, strengthen equipment prescriptions, and streamline the path from clinical recommendation to safe, functional mobility.

Unconventional Methods: Out-of-the-Box Vehicle Modification Collaboration
The standard vehicle modification does not apply to every driver, and especially those with complex mobility profiles. When a textbook prescription falls short, success relies on raw creativity and tight collaboration. In this interactive session, we incorporate the theory and then go straight into the shop.
